Grease: The Musical

Following the success of last year's award winning production of Ghost, WAOS are proud to present their production of Grease.

It's 1959, and Rydell High School seniors are back in class. The too-cool-for-school "T-Birds" are stealing hub-caps and acting tough and their gum-chewing, chain-smoking "Pink Ladies" are looking good in bobby sox and pedal pushers. The 1950s high school dream is about to explode in this rollicking musical that is both an homage to the idealism of the fifties and a satire of high schoolers' age-old desire to be provocative and rebellious. The story centres around a romance between hot-rodding gangster Danny Zuko and the sweet new girl in town, Sandy Dumbrowski.

Following a secret romance during the summer they are now back at school where peer-pressure and cliques make their love a bit more complicated. Can Danny maintain his cool dude status and still make demure Sandy his girl? Will Sandy be accepted as a Pink Lady or will she always be a Sandra Dee? The whole gang sing and dance around Danny and Sandy's romance through hit songs such as "Greased Lightnin'", "Hopelessly Devoted to You" and "You're the one that I want".
