Unfolding -The Music of - Roy HaynesStill performing aged 97, Roy Haynes’ career has lasted over 80 years, during which time he has influenced drummers through early swing, be-bop, modern and fusion jazz eras. Famously Roy worked with Lester Young, Charlie Parker, Stan Getz, Sarah Vaughan, The Allman Brothers and he has been recorded more than any other drummer in history. So, the Italian drummer Gaetano Di Giacomo has created a performance that harnesses some of the most epic works performed by Roy Haynes and together with multi-award winning saxophonist Dave O’Higgins, top pianist John Turville and bassist Paul Jefferies, this quartet will take us on a musical romp that re-discovers some of Mr Haynes’s most popular works.
