Join us for Howdenshire Music's third lunchtime concert of 2024. We welcome trumpeter Anthony Thompson and pianist Graziana Presicce for a delightful programme of music with an intriguing Yorkshire connection.

Anthony Thompson has performed with Lesley Garrett and The Sixteen, duetted with Sting and played for Pope Benedict XVI. He has toured extensively throughout the UK, USA, Holland and Brazil, and has appeared in Norway, Canada, Mexico, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Switzerland and Italy. With organist Gordon Stewart he gave the first performance of Andrew Carter's Petite Suite , which they then took on two tours in the United States. Anthony has played with the BBC Philharmonic, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, CBSO, Hallé, Manchester Camerata, and the Royal Northern Sinfonia. He has also played principal trumpet with Orquestra Nacional do Porto and been a member of the Britten-Pears Orchestra.

Graziana Presicce recently completed a PhD in Music Performance at the University of Hull. She has performed concertos with the New International Chamber Ensemble (NICE) and in 2023 she was the soloist in Franck's Les Djinns with the Hull Philharmonic Orchestra. She also recently gave the recorded premiere of works by the Hull-born composer Ethel Leginska, alongside baritone Lee Tsang, featured on BBC Radio 3. Graziana is a keen champion of the works of contemporary composers and has participated in the premières of many new works including Sandy Clark's A Blue Scent Rises (Leeds Lieder), and Alastair Borthwick and Rob Mackay's Snake Lines (from Living Museums, Nicosia).
