Highly complex and engaging music and song from Orkney-rooted folk group performing with three fiddles and a piano.

Fara brings together four musicians at the forefront of today’s Scottish folk scene. Fiddlers Kristan Harvey, Jeana Leslie and Catriona Price create a fiery sound inspired by the captivating landscapes of the Orkney islands where they grew up. Accompanied by pianist Rory Matheson, originally from Drumbeg in the Highlands and now based in Glasgow, Fara combines traditional Scottish tunes with original compositions and stunning vocals.

Their most recent album Times from Times Fall was produced by acclaimed fiddler Anna Massie and weaves together lively polka tunes and high energy reels in celebration of Orkney’s rich cultural past and breathtaking beauty. The track 7, 8, Nein gives a playful nod to Price’s mother’s German origins and Speir Thoo the Wast Wind adds stunning musical accompaniment to words by little known Orcadian poet Christina Costie, who drew inspiration from Orkney’s old Norse heritage and often wrote in the local dialect.
