Details

The remarkable Fantastic Negrito plays tracks from his new album, White Jesus Black Problems.

The album is part love story, part history lesson, inspired by the illegal, interracial romance of his seventh generation grandparents in 1750s Virginia. The collection is bold, grappling with racism, capitalism, and the very meaning of freedom itself. Though it never loses sight of the desire and determination at the heart of the tale.

Fantastic Negrito is a man's truth told in the form of black roots music. A musician from Oakland who experienced the highs of a million dollar record deal and the lows of a near fatal car accident that left him in a coma. The name Fantastic Negrito represents his third rebirth - despite his playing hand being mangled.

He has won 3 GRAMMYs, toured with the likes of Sturgill Simpson and Chris Cornell, and collaborated with Sting and E-40. He also founded the Revolution Plantation, an urban farm aimed at youth education and empowerment.

Tommy Prine is a Nashville-native, singer-songwriter, and performer. He picked up a guitar at age 10 and started picking melodies. Though he has crafted his own unique sound over the years, he learned from observing one of the best. He is the son of the late legendary multi GRAMMY award-winning artist, John Prine.

The watermark of Tommy's sound comes from his unique finger-picking style combined with soul-stirring songwriting. His debut album has been recorded and is yet-to-be released.
