Details

A free, family music and dance event with a festive flavour, the Edinburgh Festival Carnival takes place on the opening weekend of the Edinburgh Jazz & Blues Festival each year. To celebrate Scotland’s Year of Stories, the Carnival is presenting ‘Carnival Stories’ – four new performances exploring the cultural heritage and migration stories of their community partners.

Involving participants from four diverse ethnic communities across Edinburgh – including those with Indian, Latin American and Caribbean heritage – these joyful and celebratory carnival stories will be told through the creation of new flamboyant costumes and choreographed dances. Performances will take place at four local community carnivals as well as the annual city centre celebration. Come along and join the fun!

Community Carnivals across Edinburgh: LatinA Festival (venue TBC) on 4 June Leith Festival, Links Garden, on 18 June Garden of Reflection, Polson Park, on 3 July Goodtrees Carnival, Goodtrees Neighbourhood Centre, on 9 July

Edinburgh Festival Carnival: Princes Street and Princes Street Gardens on 17 July
