Details

Steeped in Latin traditions, French-Colombian bassist Ëda Diaz has been exploring and refining her colourful and rich dual heritage since 2017. Her music poetically mixes traditional Latin American sounds with experimental pop influences and industrial electronica.

Bridging Paris and Medellín, her first album Suave Bruta, co-produced with Anthony Winzenrieth in 2023, wove haute-couture pop with a plethora of Afro-Colombian rhythms such as bambuco viejo or vallenato, her double bass as the insistent pulse. Wonky Colombian salsa, electrified currulao and an eccentric Colombian-made dembow all sparkle, evoking Björk, James Blake or Juana Molina.

In the 2020s in quick succession she joined Ladaniva, shared a KEXP session with La Dame Blanche, recorded the backing vocals for Voyou's next album (alongside Pijama , November Ultra and Laura Etchegohyen), charmed the MaMA Festival and opened several La Chica concerts.

"Diaz’s wistful jazz vocal creates a refreshing contrast with her often raw-edged production style, producing highlights like the frenetic Tiemblas." The Guardian

Earthly Measures are local global DJs & producers championing the South American Electronic music scene, having quickly established themselves as a community hub for some of the more eclectic psychedelic grooves coming out of London.
