Duruflé Requiem

Details

Duruflé’s haunting Requiem , largely composed during World War 2, seeks consolation through Gregorian chant and the beauty of sumptuous French harmonies. The programme also includes Five Tudor Portraits by Vaughan Williams. Written in 1936, it sets words by John Skelton, tutor to Henry VIII, in a rousing and lively work both inventive and amusing.
