Blending wiry post punk with unpredictable art rock Drahla formed in Leeds, UK in November 2015 by Rob Riggs, Luciel Brown and Mike Ainsley. They quickly found their identity in Leeds’ fertile music scene with their minimal yet robust bass heavy sound, while their reputation as a fervent live act saw them sharing stages with Parquet Courts, METZ, Ought, The Cribs, Buzzcocks and more, as well as playing Meltdown festival at the request of The Cure’s Robert Smith.
Their new single 'Under the Glass' represents a moment of creative reconnection, almost a sense of euphoria in the darkest moments an awaited, yet slight, respite from reality. The song is a collage, reworking early ideas from 2020 with newer work bridging the gap of time, in the literal sense as well as musically.
The lyrics are deliberately vague, using metaphor to interpret personal experience and emotion of loss and grief.
‘Under the Glass’ is the first single of an upcoming album.
