Details

Let's be honest we’ve been through a grim time! Laughter might not really be the best medicine, but it can sure help. Learn how to write and perform stand-up comedy in this workshop with Susan Morrison of The Stand Comedy Club. She’ll take you through the basics of writing a set, from set-ups to punchlines, how to find the funny in situations and how to harness the power of nerves before a performance - a handy set of skills for any presentation situation! And you’ll get the chance to take to the stage and show off your new found skill, but no pressure if you don’t want to. Susan has been the MC at the award-winning Stand Comedy Club since it opened and regularly hosts in Edinburgh, Glasgow and Newcastle. She’s worked in clubs from Bournemouth to Inverness and, with Jojo Sutherland, is one half of ‘The Fannies’ who have had sold out shows at the Fringe for the past three years. She is the presenter of BBC Scotland’s ‘Time Travels’ and a columnist for the Edinburgh Evening News. As the ‘den mother’ for the Cabaret of Dangerous Ideas, a collaborative show bringing academics and comedy together to explore thought-provoking research, Susan trains academics to put that ‘dangerous’ idea across in an accessible, amusing way.  Saturday 9th, 16th and 23rd October Heart of Hawick 16.00 - 18.00 Age 16+ BOOK HERE.
