Details

Join Poet, playwright, and interdisciplinary artist Rebecca Sharp for the finale of her Centre for Energy Ethics resicdency, where she will launch her new collection of poems, Long Field Loop.

When so much of moving forward includes looking back, the poems in Long Field Loop make space for making amends – a space where land, humans and more-than-humans explore patterns of experience in times of reckoning. Scientists, researchers, artists and activists meld with figures from other times and mythologies. The title sequence Long Field Loop looks at a ten-year period (2014-24) of personal and political upheaval through a Scottish lens, a recalibration of hopes and dreams. Set within the wider context of late-stage capitalism, seismic global unrest and climate crisis, the collection as a whole considers how we find our feet again. A recovery of values and voice; what must be laid to rest, and how to carry on.

The event includes readings from Long Field Loop, a short film screening, and a one-night-only performance created especially for this occasion, featuring Rebecca Sharp with composer and musician Alex South.
