Burning wi Burns: a Cabaret of Bards

This activity is completed or marked as expired

Details

Join your host Rabbie Burnt for a fiery evening of cabaret and spoken word performances, with special guest, the award-winning Scottish-Algerian poet, Janette Ayachi. Expect romantic laddies, bawdy bards, and merry muses as we explore the works of Robert Burns beyond his lifetime. Janette will be performing poetry from her brand new collection, Quick Fire, Slow Burning, which explores fire both as an element and as a sensuous and bodily fuel. Rabbie Burnt, a drag king brought up on the banks of the River Doon, will be delving into the various facets of Burns’ masculinity in a queer consideration of his work, and the bard as a drag trope. Gather at the embers of the fire for a night of poetry, play, and provocations.
