Award-winning writer, Anthony Anaxagorou, is Rugby School’s Poet in Residence 2023-24. Anthony follows Cecilia Knapp and Rachel Long as Rugby School's third Poet in Residence. This year, he has delivered workshops to our Year 9 writers and held one-to-one 'poetry surgeries' with our student poets. He has written the foreword for our poetry anthology, 'Rabbit Hole', due to be launched at our Festival on the Close.

His third collection, Heritage Aesthetics won the RSL Ondaatje Prize 2023. It was listed as one of New Statesman’s top books of 2022.

His second collection, After the Formalities is a Poetry Book Society Recommendation and was shortlisted for the 2019 T.S. Eliot Prize. It was also a Telegraph and Guardian poetry book of the year.

Anthony is artistic director of Out-Spoken, a monthly poetry and music night held at London’s Southbank Centre, and publisher of Out-Spoken Press.

In this poetry reading, Anthony will be sharing work from his recent collections. There will be a book signing after the event.
