ABOUT THE EXHIBITION In this exhibition, Ryan’s paintings leap from more conventional works on canvas to ‘cut-outs’, in which paintings on card and paper are sliced, folded and interlaced to create self-supporting sculptures, or are conjured from concrete or ceramic. Their frenetic rhythm and pace is matched by a riot of colour, raw energy and punk sensibility, their perforated surfaces creating a web of new connections, views and vistas as they cavort through the gallery spaces.
