Details

After the success of Ayckbourn’s ‘The Norman Conquests’ FIRST KNIGHT Theatre returns to the Festival Theatre with something completely different – Howard Brenton’s ‘Anne Boleyn’.

The perfect play for Hever Castle, Anne’s childhood home, this version of her story questions the traditionally held views about a tragic, historical heroine. Was she the pawn of an ambitious family manoeuvred into the King’s bed? Maybe a predator manipulating her way to power? Or perhaps, as re-imagined through this epic play, we will discover her in a different light.

Commissioned for Shakespeare’s Globe in 2010 ‘Anne Boleyn’ vividly dramatises the story of an incredible woman who helped to change the course of our history. Historically illuminating, thrilling, witty and poignant – the perfect theatrical experience in the splendid gardens of Hever Castle.
