Coinciding with Wimbledon, we are thrilled to welcome this awardwinning debut play by our Associate Artist Kemi-Bo Jacobs inspired by the remarkable life of tennis player Althea Gibson.

Born into a family of sharecroppers in South Carolina, Althea became the first black person to win Wimbledon, in 1957. Despite the magnitude of her achievements her story has been somewhat erased from history.

First produced at Alphabetti Theatre, this play celebrates Althea’s unique life, while asking the questions: What is History? Who decides who is remembered and who is erased?
