Details

Having made his name with his original songs and memorable voice (which has been described as the best of his generation) - warm and deeply heartfelt - over the course of 5 albums, Scottish singer songwriter Adam Holmes is going back to his roots for his new album THE VOICE OF SCOTLAND. Recorded simply, on a portable recorder, mostly on the road to rural communities in the Highlands, The Voice of Scotland features 12 of Adam's favourite traditional folk songs, going back through his career to his childhood.

It was then completed in his home studio with some of Scotland’s best folk/roots musicians including Michael McGovern, Lyle Watt, Duncan Lyall, Fraser Spiers and Ciaran Ryan – adding additional instruments and backing vocals. The results are stripped back, allowing Adam’s voice to soar. In 2024 he plans to share songs from the album particularly with elderly people in old folks homes across the country.

Since Covid (and the birth of his daughter) he has made a shift from band tours and bigger, more commercial venues to solo shows in rural community halls and churches, with bringing world class songwriting and his own brand of wry humour to the furthest flung areas of Scotland.

THE VOICE OF SCOTLAND WILL BE RELEASED DIGITALLY ON 22 DEC, WITH THE CD AVAILABLE FROM 28 JAN WHEN IT WILL BE LAUNCHED AT CELTIC CONNECTIONS.
