'THE BAYEUX TAPESTRY BY DR SAM NEWTONAn exploration of the magnificent embroidery known as the Bayeux Tapestry, the most important work of narrative art of the late eleventh century and one of the major sources of Anglo-Norman culture. Using the official digital edition from Bayeux Museum, we shall explore the great story that this embroidered comic-strip tells us and attempt to unravel some of its mysteries.About Dr Sam Newton
Sam was awarded his Ph.D. at UEA in 1991 and published his first
book, The Origins of Beowulf, in 1993 and his second, The Reckoning of
King Rdwald, in 2003. He has also published several papers, some
of which are available on his Academia webpage. As a professional
historian he has lectured widely around the country and abroad, and
contributed to many radio and television programmes, especially Time Team.
He is now Director of Wuffing Education and a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries.
