In this small group class, Justyna from Addicted to Patterns studio will guide you through each step at a gentle pace, ensuring you have all the time and support needed to design and print a beautiful 2 meter length wallpaper panel. This workshop will help students understand the art of wallpaper decoration through the experimenting with a block printing technique, colour and form. We will explore mark making to reflect your individual inspiration for the pattern, and discuss composition, rhythm and two and four-way repeat pattern.Students will develop the technical knowledge and skills required to prepare designs for print, explore various techniques of mixing and applying inks and create patterns for a wallpaper decoration. Students will learn a range of skills to develop confidence in handling materials and equipment while creating images and developing them into a surface decoration.Justyna Medon is a surface designer specialising in custom hand-printed collections of wall hangings, textiles and artefacts. After graduating from London College of Communication in 2010, Justynas focus was to share her passion for printmaking and to create illustrative patterns that tell the story. In her wallpaper dedicated research she explores historic prints, pigments and embossing technique. Justyna is intrested in eco- substrates, natural pigments and explores green solutions in printmaking. She is passionate educator & researcher based in Wales, currently training in the field of wallpaper conservation.
