Anything looked possible… until the arrival of punk changed everything. But that first album's art-rock style, with its roots in cabaret, resonates to this day and the band went on to be an important influence on many British musicians.
For Frankie Goes to Hollywood singer Holly Johnson, “[Deaf School] revived Liverpool music for a generation”.So 50 years on we’re celebrating that event and that seminal – and famously hot – summer with the return of the band to their spiritual home of Hope Street.
July 2026 sees the band performing their classic first album and more, featuring film and visuals from a key moment in Liverpool’s musical history – and everything that followed.Ticket prices for this event include a venue restoration levy.
