Featuring the combined talents of two of the UK's finest folk acts, The Shackleton Trio and Christina Alden & Alex Patterson, Kitewing's inaugural tour brought them to the Canopy Theatre for a stunning show in February 2023 and an equally impressive return in early 2024.This December sees them returning to the venue once again as part of a short run of very special seasonal shows for the band for the first time, With a life-size Nativity scene backdrop and surrounded by the wining entries from the 2026 Christmas Tree Festival, this will be a special night that you won't want to miss!Soaring harmonies and roaring fiddles combine with guitar, mandolin and banjo to play songs of the sea, migration and environmental struggle - and of course, for this run of shows, the winter season. They have been featured on Mark Radcliffe's Radio 2 Folk Show and BBC Radios 3 & 4, with Five star reviews, and an appearance on Cambridge Folk Festival's main stage alongside a host of UK and European festivals and international tours.The Shackleton Trio are Georgia Shackleton (fiddle, vocals), Aaren Bennett (guitar) and Nic Zuppardi (mandolin). Natural talents of the folk tradition, their self-penned material blends seamlessly with their imaginative yet authentic re-workings of traditional folk standards, influenced by British, American and Scandinavian folk traditions, with a regional twist from the group's native East Anglia.Christina Alden & Alex Patterson perform exceptional songs and tunes (many of which are original compositions) on guitar, fiddle, tenor guitar, banjo and shruti box. They have toured extensively throughout the UK and Europe, with headlining shows plus a 23 date tour with Show of Hands, appearances at Glasgow's famous Celtic Connections and main stage slots at many of the UK's most prestigious folk festivals.Their first duo EP The Fox Song was launched at Folkeast in 2019 and during the lockdowns they recorded their debut album Hunter in their 'folk cellar' studio. It was released in spring 2021 to universally ecstatic reviews. They have since released a number of stand alone singles, been featured on the BBC Radio 2 Folk Show and released their second duo album Safe Travels which amongst many other plaudits was included in Shindig!
