Across the sea in the land of the Geats, an untested hero thirsts for battle. He calls himself Beowulf. With the strength of thirty men coursing through his sword arm, Beowulf has conquered fear. But strength cannot defy death, and even the most fearless of heroes cannot fight the passage of time.In collaboration with Professors Francis Leneghan and Rachel Burns from the Faculty of English at the University of Oxford, Emma Nihill Alcorta has created a radical adaptation of the Old English Beowulf. With a live, original score, stage combat, and a dynamic playtext in modern English, this production makes Beowulf feel as fresh, entertaining and urgent and it would have over a thousand years ago.
