Junction 4 Productions returns with a West End and Broadway favourite: Stephen Sondheim’s musical comedy Company.

The critically acclaimed community theatre company, known for productions including Into the Woods, Sleepy Hollow, Young Frankenstein, Return to the Forbidden Planet and, most recently, Come From Away, now brings audiences one of musical theatre’s sharpest, funniest and most celebrated works.

With a book by George Furth and music and lyrics by the legendary Stephen Sondheim,Company first premiered in 1970 under the direction of Harold “Hal” Prince.

Since then, it has become recognised as a groundbreaking modern musical comedy: sophisticated, stylish, brilliantly witty and full of unforgettable songs.

On the night of his 35th birthday, Robert finds himself unable to make a wish as he blows out his candles.

Surrounded by his married friends - “those good and crazy people” - he begins to question whether he is truly happy with life as a bachelor, or whether something, or someone, is missing.

Through a series of chaotic dinner parties, disastrous dates and brutally honest conversations, Robert is pulled into the hilarious highs and lows of love, marriage and commitment.

From sharp one-liners to moments of real heart, Company takes a wildly funny and beautifully observed look at relationships, vulnerability, growing up, and what it really means to be “alive.” Although Sondheim’s work has been performed locally over the years, this production marks a special moment for the Fylde Coast, with Company being presented by a community theatre company in the area for the first time.
