A comfortable nineteenth-century concert hall bedecked for Christmas: Felix Mendelssohn and sister Fanny are premiering new compositions.

Christus was the start of an unfinished oratorio; Vom Himmel hoch uses Luther’s Advent tune as Bach had done 100 years before, while Fanny’s Lobgesang (‘Hymn of Praise’) also looks back to Bach.
