Mags Meets Fyfe

A perfect combination of melody, phrasing and fire, says pianist Sean Fyfe of the trumpet-playing of Joe Magnarelli, who has been recognised as one of the world's leading jazz trumpeters for more than three decades.Magnarelli has fronted a range of acclaimed ensembles, including collaborations with John Swana and Jerry Weldon.

Born and based in New York, his virtuosity on the trumpet has also made him a sought-after sideman, performing with acclaimed artists including Lionel Hampton, Toshiko Akiyoshi, Laverne Butler, Harry Connick Jr., the Buddy Rich Band, Maria Schneider, Grant Stewart, the Vanguard Jazz Orchestra, Ray BarrettoCanadian jazz pianist Sean Fyfe, a graduate of the Manhattan School of Music and McGill University, has long admired Joe Magnarelli.

An accomplished artist in his own right, Fyfe has built an impressive international career, performing extensively as a sideman in the United States and the UK while also releasing three albums as a leader.
