About
The Accrington Pipe Band was formed by Scots who came to work in the cotton mills of East Lancashire.
The Accrington Pipe Band was formed by Scots who came to work in the cotton mills of East Lancashire.
The band started in 1885 making it the oldest civilian pipe band in the UK and Ireland and possible the rest of the world.
This is recognised by the RSPBA.
Last year the band celebrated its 140th anniversary with a number of concerts, we have also recently taken part in the prestigious Tartan Week event in Edinburgh.
The band performs at many well known venues including the Royal Lancashire Show and the Bideford Massed Pipe Band parade.
We also attend a number of military events including Armed Forces days and Remembrance Sunday Parades.
We wear the traditional full dress uniform of the Cameron Highlanders and our tartan is Cameron of Erracht.
We have an extensive repertoire of pipe music and we enjoy playing with orchestras and brass bands.
The band has a proud tradition and is part of the DNA of the town of Accrington and the Hyndburn area of which we represent.
