High School Musical

The story follows Troy Bolton, a popular high school basketball star, and Gabriella Montez, a shy but academically gifted new student.

After meeting over winter break and unexpectedly auditioning for their school's spring musical, they challenge the social cliques of East High where athletes, brainiacs, and performers are expected to stick to their own groups.As rumours spread and peer pressure builds, especially from drama queen Sharpay Evans who wants the lead role for herself; Troy and Gabriella must decide whether to follow the expectations placed on them or pursue their true interests.

In the end, the show celebrates friendship, individuality, and the idea that you don't have to "stick to the status quo" to succeed.
