About
Development Matters is a weekly play and learning group for children aged 0-5 years and their parents or carers.
Development Matters is a weekly play and learning group for children aged 0-5 years and their parents or carers. Designed to support all areas of early childhood development, the sessions provide a range of exciting and age-appropriate activities that encourage children to learn through play, exploration, and discovery.
Each week, families can enjoy a variety of experiences including general play, messy play, outdoor play, sensory activities, and learning opportunities that help children develop their communication, physical, social, emotional, and problem-solving skills. Activities are planned to promote curiosity, creativity, independence, and confidence while recognising that children learn best through hands-on experiences and meaningful interactions.Parents and carers are encouraged to join in with activities, supporting their child's development while gaining ideas and inspiration for learning through play at home. The sessions also offer opportunities to meet other local families, build friendships, and access information and support from Family Hub staff.Development Matters takes place at Whitworth Library from 10:00am to 11:30am, running from the 9th September until 16th December. The group provides a welcoming and inclusive environment where young children can play, explore, learn, and thrive alongside their peers and caregivers.
