‘Spooktacular’ Doodles and Storytelling

Join Paul Howard, the illustrator of Jill Tomlinson’s classic, ‘The Owl Who Was Afraid Of The Dark’, on a special tour of The Mac, where, together, you will collect inspiration from the building’s exhibitions to create a brand new story which will feature some of those characters and objects you will have seen.

Using simple linking sentences and lively illustrations across several pages Paul will guide and shape your collective creative responses to set the story off.

But how you decide to use your own words and pictures for the final page will be the way this story will end.

Will you take inspiration from the galleries or be inspired by Halloween?The workshop will include a whistle stop tour of the exhibitions which include Susan Hughes musical installations and the collaborative work of Mary McIntyre and Robert Anderson mixed media works.
