The Experimenting Line workshop was such a success in May that artist Sue Auty is coming back to do it all again but with a twist!Join artist Sue Auty in this playful and liberating 'Experimenting with Line - part 2' workshop, where you will make your own pen out of a soft drinks can before creating exciting & dynamic marks using Indian ink. Sue will then teach you how to turn your art into an lotus fold artist book.Sue has had a long career as a theatre maker, using her skills mainly in prop and costume making but with side lines in pyrotechnics and large scale fire sculptures. More recently she has been expanding her artistic practice and focusing on hand printmaking and composition. In this workshop you will:
- make your own "Cola" ink pen from an aluminium drinks can
- create a series of postcard sized compositions using brush and pen lines with Indian ink.
- learn how to create a lotus fold artist book using the artwork you have created,No previous drawing experience is necessary, the idea is to loosen up and find surprising beauty in random effects.
All materials will be supplied.workshop time: 1-3pm
Suitable for age 14+ (all young people 16 and under must be accompanied by an adult)The Cafe will be open 10.30am- 4pm for teas, coffees and home made cakes. Please use the accessible entrance to the rear of the building.Crafting for well being
There are therapeutic benefits from crafting, including reducing stress & anxiety. When done socially the benefits are amplified. Sharing stories and knowledge, supporting each other and celebrating achievements, boosts confidence and self esteem, and creates a better sense of well being. There really is something special about creating alongside other people. When people come together to create, magic happens. Connections are made, and passions, interests and values are shared. A space is created where people can learn, be inspired, and gain fresh perspectives, from their work, and the world around them. They are spaces we can unwind and recharge!
