Tony Harrison's Film Poems - Contains Strong Language Festival

Tony Harrison's Film Poems: Edith Hall & Andrew McMillan26th September marks the first anniversary of the death of Tony Harrison, the celebrated poet who was as well-known for giving voice to the working-class people of his Yorkshire upbringing as he was for his daring adaptations of classical texts.

Throughout his long career, Harrison also became renowned for making extraordinarily brave film-poems which were broadcast on the BBC and Channel 4.

In today's celebratory event , classics scholar Edith Hall and poet Andrew McMillan share short clips from some of Harrison's most interesting film works, and discuss the remarkable methods of a poet who was at once fearless and breathtakingly honest.
