My Boy Danny by Alfie James Sunday 8th November 2026 3.00pm at The Woolpit Village Hall, Bury St Edmunds
Intense and compelling. Alfie delves right to the root of the ulcer which is infesting upon our society today - knife crime. He produces a play which is relatable and a brilliantly well-crafted piece of theatre with insanely good performances by all. (Off-West-End) - Alfie James has firmly established himself as one of the defining writers and directors of his generation, distinguished by his unmistakable, remarkable creative vision and his ability to create relatable characters and engage with his audience. (Edinburgh Fringe, 2025) "My Boy Danny" is a play by award-winning Writer, Actor and Director Alfie James. Every night Ange stands by the window looking out with the hope to see her son one last time looking up at her from across the road. Instead, every night for the past eleven months there's been a shadow standing there in his place. Desperate for answers, Ange lets the shadow in. Rory is just a regular awkward teenage boy. Or at least he was until that night when it all went wrong. Desperate to tell his story and to reach out to a woman he'd never met but knew so much about. My boy Danny premiered at the Lion and Unicorn Theatre on 11th October 2021 and received standing ovations each night and quickly gained critical acclaim both as an audio and live piece dealing with issues of gang knife crime and hate crime towards members of the LGBTQIA + community. It then went on to sell-out at The Theatre Deli in 2024 before being developed into a full-length play for its's premiere at the Kelvedon Institute and Woolpit Village Hall. Starring CK Norman, Dylan Brown, Tabitha Gribble and directed by Alfie James. "My Boy Danny offers a satisfying, enjoyable, emotive and intriguing theatre-fix provided by local creatives. In short, one which is well worth your attention." (Broadwaybaby, London, 5 Star review) Supported by The Arts Council, England. Performances notes:-This is a two-act play with an interval.
