Afternoon Tea & Talk: Sparking Clogs and Shiny Steps

Following her successful taster talk in May, we now have the opportunity to join local historian Debbie Pope for her full presentation - Sparking Clogs and Shiny Steps: Pride and Poverty in a Lancashire Mill Village with a delicious, traditional afternoon tea at the majestic 16th Century Hoghton Tower.Enjoy a delicious, traditional afternoon tea as Debbie will present photos and artefacts, as she considers three items that are commonplace essentials in our local culture (clogs, donkey stones and tripe!) Along with her own memories and welcoming the contributions of her audience, Debbie will explore the social history of these once popular and universal items, now slipping in the distant past.Our friendly team will serve a delicious selection of sweet and savoury delights including savouries and sandwiches, a fresh scone served with clotted cream and jam and other sweet treats.

All this paired with freshly brewed tea or coffee.For an extra special treat, why not upgrade to a glass of prosecco or bottle of beer?We are happy to cater for dietary requirements proving that they are included at the time of booking.
