Peebles Woodmarket

Peebles Woodmarket, and its partner event TreeFest will take place this year on on 24th & 25th October.

The Woodmarket will go on as ever in the Peebles Drill Hall, with TreeFest alongside on Peebles Tweed Green.

The events ran together very successfully last year for the first time, and make for a significant Autumn occasion in the Borders town.

And they are Free!The Woodmarket hosts talented makers in wood from around the country who come to display and sell their wares.

Occupying the entire Drill Hall, and operating over two days, twenty makers will present an amazing diversity of wood products for visitors to browse and buy: exclusive designer furniture of all kinds, wooden sculpture, clocks, baskets, elegant storage.

Smaller wooden items too: signage, jewellery, pens, puzzle boxes, jig-saws…and more.TreeFest is an annual outdoor festival celebrating forests and woodlands - the timber, the biodiversity, the produce, the people and the landscape.

A range of wood related activities will be presented, including the annual Scottish Conker Championships (Saturday 24th), tree climbing, and chainsaw carving.

Also woodland charities and community groups will be present..The Peebles Drill Hall will be the welcoming hub for The Woodmarket and TreeFest.

The cosy cafe will serve snacks and beverages throughout both days, and here other supplementary attractions will be going on.Mesmerising Mechanisms is a special exhibition featuring a collection of eccentric wooden machines.

They demonstrate how the movement of ingenious mechanisms can produce fascinating results…. like a hedgehog riding a unicycle or the motion of balls in a complicated circuit.

Visitor participation is mandatory… nothing happens until you turn the handle!The woodland puppet show is another supplementary attraction. with a cast of loveable characters that are always popular with younger kids."
