Incubus

Wounded soldier Marc (a pre-Star Trek William Shatner) journeys to a mysterious village to take the healing waters of its magical well.

Lurking in the background are succubi who lure their prey to grisly deaths and eternal damnation.

Relishing a challenge, alluring demon Kia (Allyson Ames) is determined to corrupt Marc's renowned purity and deliver his soul to the God of Darkness.

But things don't go to plan, and the struggle that follows will lead them both to the brink of oblivion. The film's backstory is as uncanny as its plot.

Before Incubus even premiered, two of its young stars had died by suicide (one a murder-suicide).

Critics and audiences were confounded by its dialogue entirely in Esperanto, the constructed international language.

It was soon forgotten and considered lost for decades, until a single battered copy was discovered in a French archive in 1998.Shot by legendary cinematographer Conrad L.

Hall on the stunning California coast, Incubus is an eerie, otherworldly experience and a fascinating specimen of film history.
