Rise Up Singing - Songs of Liberation

This year Cairn Chorus is one of three local community choirs who are hosting the 2026 Street Choirs Festival. The festival started in 1984 as celebration of community choirs who campaign for justice and change worldwide. The festival takes place in June with 35 choirs busking throughout Dumfries town centre.
This season weve taken our repertoire from the history of the Street Choirs Festival with songs from the Chartists who were the pre-cursers of the Labour movement to modern-day civil rights movements. There will be liberation songs from South Africa and Hamish Hendersons anthem for Scotland Freedom come all ye. Come ready to join in, be moved and be part of a concert to uplift and offer hope in times of change.
