Buzz Beekeeping Experience 2027

Ever wondered what actually goes on inside a beehive? Come and find out.Our Buzz Beekeeping Experience takes place at Coniston Farm in Staincross, our family smallholding looking out towards the hills of Penistone.

I've kept bees here since 2006 and have been teaching beekeeping since 2012, so you're in safe hands. We start in our classroom with a relaxed introduction to the honey bee: how a colony works, who does what, and what you're likely to see once the lid comes off.

Then it's into a bee suit and out to the apiary, where you'll take part in a real colony inspection.

You'll hold a frame covered in bees and, if she's feeling sociable, maybe even spot the queen. The session lasts around 90 minutes.

Groups are capped at six, so there's plenty of time for questions and nobody gets stuck at the back.

Bee suits, veils and gloves are provided, and the colonies we use are checked beforehand and chosen for their calm temperament.Afterwards you can try our raw Yorkshire honey, and we'll email you a certificate and photos from your visit. No experience needed.

Just curiosity and sensible shoes.
