Mosaic Workshop with Rhona Duffy - Callendar House Creative Sessions

Create your own Roman-style mosaic coaster using traditional marble tiles in a relaxed, family-friendly experience inspired by the Roman connections with the Falkirk area. Falkirk-based mosaic artist and craftsperson Rhona Duffy will provide a curated selection of materials, designs and simple step-by-step guidance. You can use one of our designs or create your own. Rhona will be on hand throughout to offer friendly help and answer questions.
Adults can also have a go at using traditional mosaic tools, including the hammer and hardie, and discover how mosaic materials have been shaped for centuries. Children can enjoy Roman and Falkirk-inspired activity sheets if they have time after finishing their mosaic.
At the end of the session, your mosaic will be left to dry. We’ll grout and finish your coaster for you, and it will be ready to collect about a week later from Callendar House. We’ll provide aftercare information, so you can enjoy using your handcrafted coaster for years to come.
Children are welcome with paying adults and mosaic coasters are suitable for ages 6+.
Rhona will be exhibiting in the Artful exhibition from 7 Nov in the Second-Floor Galleries in Callendar House.
