Advent Carol Service

Advent is a season of watching, waiting and preparing for the coming of Christ.Through readings from the Bible and beautiful music sung by the Cathedral Choir, this special service invites us to reflect on the themes of hope, expectation and the promise of light in the darkness.Beginning in the darkness at the West End of the Cathedral, the choir and clergy move in procession towards the East, accompanied by the gentle glow of candlelight.

This symbolic journey from darkness towards light reflects the journey of Advent itself, as we look towards the dawning of a new day and the coming of Christ, the Light of the World. With its hauntingly beautiful music, flickering candles and moments of stillness, the Advent Carol Service offers a wonderful opportunity to step away from the busyness of everyday life and enter into the mystery and anticipation of this holy season.Whether you are a regular worshipper or visiting the Cathedral for the first time, you are warmly invited to join us for this moving and memorable service. All are welcome.
