Feeling helpless about the rise of fascism?
Join us to learn and sing songs with people from all over York. We'll sing songs from the Singing Resistance movement in the US, which have strengthened communities uniting to protect each other from ICE raids, as well as from other resistance movements around the world. These are songs which can help us build solidarity here in York too - we'll have them ready any time we need them!No musical or protest experience needed. Just singing together for solidarity and fun, interspersed with stories of the grassroots resistance of ordinary people in Minnesota.
Led by natural voice practitioner Mike Leigh, and Adderstone (Gemma McDermott and Cath Heinemeyer), we'll sing powerful songs with simple and beautiful harmonies. All words provided, along with tea and coffee. You are also invited to bring some cake to share if you like!Attendance is free, but please book a place to let us know you are coming; we will take donations in support of mutual aid for migrant communities.
