For our Threads Talks on 21st June at The Henry Dene Hall we will be hearing from local, national and international artists and makers to explore the many dimensions of belonging.Join us for a series of conversations that open doors, build understanding, and bring people together.

Together well see how a sense of belonging can cross generations, borders, identities, and communities. All the talks and events are free, but you do need to register for the sessions to secure your place.

This link allows you to book for all of the talks but if you would prefer to book individually then please visit the individual talk booking links available on the Voices Gloucester website.11:00 What does belonging mean to you? Jo TeagueThe starting point for our theme this year is a difficult question to understand and answer.

By challenging the community to explore this question through slow stitching, we can begin to uncover the themes and values that help answer it.

Jo Teague will present how she approached connecting individuals and communities through cloth to create the installation You Are Here, which can be seen in the Tithe Barn.1:00 Where do you belong? Gloucester Branch of Ukrainian AssociationFor many people, a sense of belonging comes from more than one place.

As part of this years exhibition, community groups were invited to reflect on their own sense of belonging.

In this talk, members of the Gloucester Branch of the Ukrainian Association will discuss their commissioned artwork, how it was created, and why it is important to connect places of belonging and embody emotion.2:15 Tereza BukovVoices Gloucester is pleased to welcome Tereza Bukov as an international guest artist who creates visually rich and socially engaged works that blend anthropology, mythology, and contemporary performance.

Her projects often involve collaboration with local communities, particularly women and migrant groups, to explore themes of belonging and identity.3:30 Cloth in our hands- making as a form of belongingCome and join two local lifelong stitchers to explore what drives them to work with cloth and yarn.

For many of us, craft plays a central role in shaping who we are and how we spend our time.

With lively conversation and audience questions, our makers will reflect on how their relationship with cloth began and how it has developed over the years.Threads: The Fabric of Gloucester is a partnership project, curated by Voices Gloucester and Jo Teague, and made possible thanks to public funding from the National Lottery through Arts Council England, the National Lottery Heritage Fund, Together Gloucester and the Ben and Jerrys Foundation
