Thrapston Plaza Opera are pleased to present Tannhuser by Richard Wagner, a romantic three act opera that explores the conflict between sacred and earthly love.

Minstrel, Tannhuser longs to return to the human world having spent a year in the magical underground realm of Venus, the goddess of love.

Venus, surprised he wants to leave, curses him and he is transported to the castle of Wartburg where he meets old friends and is persuaded to take part in a singing contest with Elizabeth's hand in marriage as the prize.

But has he really forgotten Venus? This wonderful opera will be sung in English with a live orchestra.
