Nordic Americana - acoustic instruments and vocal harmony - songs filled with human emotion, personal questioning and moving on.Maren Davidsen is a Norwegian singer-songwriter from the city of Stavanger situated on the misty west coast of Norway. Her music is a distinctly Scandinavian take on Americana coupled with the intimacy of great singer-songwriter storytelling.After spending her early twenties in Londons party district Mayfair, she returned to Norway in 2023 and began writing the songs that would become her debut album, This Is Where I Leave You, which will be released on 14th October.Maren's music is rooted in personal storytelling, drawing on experiences of love, relationships, loss, life between countries and the contrast between her Norwegian roots and years spent abroad. Her songwriting has also been shaped by time spent in Nashville, where she developed a deeper connection to the Americana tradition that now sits at the centre of her sound.The album's very first single Tennessee On My Mind was praised by Canadian music critic Eric Alper as a beautiful piece of Nordic americana, emotionally direct and sonically rich.
Maren's music has since been embraced by other tastemakers such as Americana Highways, Atwood Magazine and Earmilk. Cleveland Street, the second song to be released went straight into rotation on Norwegian radio as well as receiving airplay across regional radio in the UK including strong support from Amazing Radio.This fall she will be bringing the album on the road touring Norway and the UK with shows at the legendary Troubadour in London and Kulturkirken Jakob in Oslo. She will also be performing at Paper Dress Vintage, London, a UK industry showcase hosted by Karousel and in association with the MMF (the UK music management forum).Going into 2027 Maren will be releasing more music as she is heading for the famous world heritage city of Rros in Norway to start the process of recording her second album. She will also be performing at the Your Roots Are Showing festival in Belfast in February.
