“Alt-comedy godfather” (The Guardian) John-Luke Roberts returns with his first new show in four years, a crowd-pleasing stand-up hour about the human condition, goblins, and what it’s like to get an endoscopy at 11 am on Remembrance Sunday.
What I Talk About When I Run About, Talking premiered at the Edinburgh Fringe to glowing reviews - it’s a pivot to the mainstream written after a brush with death and an alarming night in A and E. But it should be stressed the show is very funny. You will only confront your own mortality very, very gently.
JLR was named one of The Daily Telegraph’s 50 Funniest Comedians of the 21st Century, and his podcast Sound Heap won the BBC Audio Drama Award for Best Sketch Comedy. This is his 11th show, in which he will be living up to his potential.
