Grace Williams - Penillion
Stanford - Irish Rhapsody No. 1
Edward Elgar- Symphony No. 1 in A Flat
Our Summer Concert will be an evening of all British music, starting with Malcolm Arnold's Four Scottish Dances, followed by Welsh composer, Grace Williams' 'Penillion', written for the National Youth Orchestra of Wales. Ireland is represented by Stanford's Irish Rhapsody No. 1, which contains the famous melody 'Danny Boy' (Londonderry Air) and other traditional Irish melodies. To represent England, the concert will finish with Edward Elgar's popular and highly-acclaimed Symphony No. 1 in A Flat, the first symphony written by an English composer for two centuries.
