The Wolf of Gubbio is one of the best-known and loved tales from the Little Flowers of St Francis of Assisi, a medieval collection of stories about the saint and his brothers. Most often, the wolf in the story has been interpreted as the darker forces of human nature - but what if the wolf is just a wolf?
