This two-hour workshop is an introduction to the art of sketchbooking, complete with watercolour tutorial.Designed to help us document daily life and foster our creativity, sketchbooking encourages observational skills and allows artists of all levels to experiment and create an archive of ideas without the pressure of producing a finished work of art.Emma Leyfield (www.facebook.com/valerianstudio) is a Gloucestershire-based sketchbook artist, illustrator, writer and teacher, specialising in watercolours and portraiture.
She is also a huge bookworm, fascinated by the magic of storytelling for children of all ages, and has just completed an MA in Childrens Book Illustration at Anglia Ruskin University.Inspired as much by the works of Shirley Hughes and Quentin Blake as the beautiful things found at home, in the garden and in nature, Leyfields work encompasses traditional hand-drawn illustrations; ink and word drawings; pencil, ink and paint live studies; printmaking; decorated letters; and even jam labels ...All materials supplied, including a sketchbook to take home.
