Chloe Dalton - Raising Hare

Were delighted to welcome Chloe Dalton back to LitFest to introduce the childrens edition of Raising Hare at a special family event.In 2024, a lucky few gathered in The White Horse Bookshop to hear Dalton talk, for the first time at a literary festival, about her experience of nurturing a baby hare.

During lockdown in 2020, confined to her rural home, Dalton came across an abandoned leveret.

Raising Hare is her account of looking after this elusive animal and the incredible bond they formed.

She and the hare (known as Hare) cautiously feel their way to a place of trust and eventually Hare comes and goes as she pleases, living a semi-wild existence between Daltons home and the surrounding countryside.The rest of the story is history: Raising Hare was an immediate hit, catapulting Dalton from foreign policy specialist to international bestselling author.
