Fjord

This year’s Cannes Palme d’Or winner stars two 2025 Oscar nominees - Renate Reinsve (Sentimental Value) and Sebastian Stan (The Apprentice) - in a gripping, morally complex drama that will leave you thinking about it long after the credits roll.A Romanian-Norwegian family moves to a small village at the end of a beautiful fjord.

They quickly befriend their neighbours and their children settle into school.

But when bruises are discovered on their daughter, rumours begin to spread.

Is something wrong at home, or are they simply raising their children differently from everyone else?Winning his second Palme d’Or after 2007’s 4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days, Romanian director Cristian Mungiu turns a seemingly peaceful village into the setting for a tense, unsettling moral drama that refuses easy answers.

Sebastian Stan gives an impressively restrained performance as the father, while Renate Reinsve is a calm, disquieting presence as his Norwegian wife.

Slowly and surely, Fjord transforms an everyday community dispute into something far more disturbing.
