Fundraising Race Night

East Grinstead Meridian Rotary is hosting a fundraising Race Night to raise money for the new Alternative Provision Project at Sackville School. The School is hoping to create a Vocational and Wellbeing Centre. The centre will be in the unused school bungalow and associated garden. This will provide students with a safe, welcoming and purposeful environment in which to learn, grow and develop essential life skills. The centre will offer practical learning opportunities, including trade skills, basic food preparation, gardening and outdoor education, alongside activities that support emotional wellbeing, resilience, confidence and positive relationships. This innovative space will help re-engage students who may struggle in a traditional classroom setting, improve their engagement and self-belief, and equip them with valuable skills for future education, apprenticeships, employment and independent living.
Plans include creation of an outdoor workshop and development of the garden area to grow and harvest fruit, vegetables and flowers and in doing so create a wellbeing garden. Long term, a cafe is envisaged where students can sell to the staff and community, developing their entrepreneurial and communication skills.
With support from our town residents and businesses, we can enable Sackville School to create a nurturing, inclusive and inspiring facility that makes a lasting difference to the lives of our young people.Films of genuine UK horse races will be shown but without the true names of the horses or their form being revealed by the commentator - thus making it a game of chance. Bets of 1 may be placed before the race. 50p goes into the prize fund and 50p to the fundraising and the prize fund will be shared amongst those who bet on the winner. There is also the opportunity to sponsor a Race and to buy a race horse.
There will also be a raffle and licensed bar.
The first race will be at 7pm, after 4 races there will be an interval for paella and drawing of the raffle. The event should finish 10-10.30pmTickets have to be purchased in advance by Friday 23rd October. NOT available on the door.
